David Lawrence and Jo Gill

David Lawrence and Jo Gill founded Performing Matters in 1996.

The business was created alongside corporate comedy company Laughing Matters (founded by David in 1994), to provide professional leadership and training services.

Together, and individually, David and Jo have written and performed interactive scenarios, Hypotheticals, bespoke live theatre, and produced corporate films for more than 200 Australian and international blue chip organisations.

David has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, and worked as a financial analyst before combining his business knowledge with his passion for writing and performing.

Jo is a graduate from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with a double major in Political Science. Prior to joining Laughing Matters and co-founding Performing Matters, Jo was a public relations consultant, managing a Sydney-based consultancy for a number of years.

David and Jo have written and performed in five Melbourne International Comedy Festival Shows. They are both Alumni of Melbourne Impro/Theatresports seasons – successfully combining their corporate experience with improvisational skills training to perform realistic and memorable corporate theatre.
